What Is Classical Education?
In the classical tradition we speak of speak of this triad: truth, goodness, and beauty.
In the Christian tradition, we know that all of this has been created, redeemed, and fulfilled for us in Christ.
After one of my sessions someone asked me for a copy of my definition. I share this here:
“A classical Christian education is a formative education designed to incline the student to truth, goodness, and beauty through the liberal arts and sciences guided by the great art, music, literature, and ideas of Western civilization — all enfolded by the merciful assurance of Jesus Christ as the sufficient sacrifice for our sins and the eternal fulfillment of truth, goodness, and beauty for us.” –Cheryl Swope
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. –Colossians 1:19-20
